Running Wild Rescue is always looking for volunteers to help foster animals as there is no short supply in animals in need.
Running Wild Rescue accepts fosters across Western Canada. They supplies all necessary food, supplies and veterinary care including spay/neuter. You can apply to become a foster and check out what is expected from you! A few key things they look at are:
- Do you own your home or rent? If you rent, are you allowed to have animals in your home?
- What does your lifestyle look like? They will try to match you up with animals that fit your lifestyle the best they can.
- Are you willing to work on training? Are you interested in helping some more complicated situations? (ex; dogs with leash reactivity, high medical needs, animals with anxiety, etc)
- Do you have other animals in your home? Are they okay with animals? Are they vetted?
- If you’re interested in fostering dogs, they also ask about your yard. They’re mainly checking to see if you have a fenced yard or adequate measures in place to keep a dog safe and secure when going outside.
- They do a home check; either by photos, or using a video chat platform like FaceTime or Zoom to ensure your home is safe and you’re ready to care for an animal
Running Wild Rescue relies on donations to help rescue and care for animals in need. They are ALWAYS in need of:
- Financial donations to cover the costs of vet bills
- Cat Litter
- Wet & Dry Dog, Cat, Puppy & Kitten Food
- Gently used kennels & crates
- Towels, bedding, other linens
- Food & water dishes
- Puppy pee pads
- Leashes, harnesses & collars
- Toys
- Poop Bags
- Litter pans & scoops
- Cat trees and scratch posts
- Training aids
- Large Cat enclosures (they use these to set up adoption events or quarantine sick kitties)
