Local Rescue Feature – Regina Humane Society

The Regina Humane Society (RHS) is a Registered Charity Organization based in Regina that was established in 1964. They rely on donor support and volunteers to provide  progressive animal welfare, adoption, education, outreach and animal protection services.

Types of Animals they work with: Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Caged Birds & Other Small Animals

Along with being able to adopt a pet from the Regina Humane Society they provide a variety of other programs and services that help raise funds for the organization and support the community including:

  • Facility Rentals – they have 3 separate classrooms that can be used for business meetings, community events or workshops
  • Animal Protection Services – Regina Humane Society Animal Protection Services enforce animal protection laws that pertain to animal cruelty and neglect
  • Lost and Found – they act as the city pound where they hold stray animals until they are reunited with their owners or put up for adoption if the owner is not found. You can also file a lot pet report with them if your pet is lost.
  • Pet Cremation Services – they provide respectful pet cremation services to Regina and surrounding communities. They are licensed by the Saskatchewan Crematoria Council and our cremations are conducted by Certified Cremation Technicians 
  • Dog Training Classes – they offer a variety of classes from puppy and basic obedience to behavioral and dog sports
  • Youth Programs, Education and Outreach Programs

If you would like to volunteer with RHS you can do so by:

  • Humane Education & Outreach Programs
  • Laundry & Office Support

The Regina Humane Society is always looking for volunteers to help foster animals as there is no short supply in animals in need. Foster Requirements include:

  • Be located within 30km of RHS for emergency purposes
  • Be over the age of 18
  • Provide a Criminal Record Check
  • Any other animals in the house must be up-to-date with vaccinations
  • All approved foster applicants must attend Foster Orientation at the Regina Humane Society and read the Foster Manual
  • After Foster Orientation is completed a phone interview with the RHS Enrichment Coordinator will be arranged to finalize applicant as a registered foster

The Regina Humane Society relies on donations to help rescue and care for animals in need. They are ALWAYS in need of:

  • Monetary Donations
  • Canned cat and dog food
  • Un-opened pet food
  • 6-foot leashes (non-retractable)
  • Dog and cat crates/kennels
  • Cat litter
  • New Kongs – especially large ones
  • New Plastic squeak toys
  • New Plastic cat toys
  • Dentasticks
  • Towels and non-stuffed blankets
  • Cat or small dog beds
  • Gift cards – particularly food stores, Dollar Stores, pet stores
  • Liquid Laundry Detergent
  • Bleach
