Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation
Description
Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation (LSWR) is a Registered Charity based in Saskatoon and was established in 2010. While LSWR is based in Saskatoon, they receive wild animals from across the province that are in need of help. They also answer their phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide information about wildlife. If it sounds like the animal is orphaned, injured or ill, They work with the caller to make arrangements for the animal to be transported to their facility in Saskatoon. Their volunteers travel hundreds of miles annually to pick up and rescue wildlife in distress.
Types of Animals they work with: Wildlife
Along with rescuing and rehabilitating Wildlife, Education about wildlife is an important part of their work. They provide information over the phone about natural behaviors, ways to deal with difficult situations and how humans can best respond to an animal. This may mean identifying young animals by their description and behavior and encouraging the caller to let it be. Alternatively, they may ask that the animal come into care if it sounds likely to be injured, ill or orphaned. Their community based education programs are offered in schools, libraries, summer camps, and at community events or gatherings. The better informed people are about wildlife, the better they are able to respond appropriately when they encounter the animals.
Though Wildlife cannot by fostered by the general public, Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation is always looking for Volunteers and Donations as there is no short supply in animals in need. Read the full Blog post to see how you can help!
LSWR is always available to assist with any wildlife questions. They encourage peaceful co-existence with our wild neighbors including the use of deterrents rather than trap/remove when an animal is unwanted. Wildlife is a valuable part of our environment that helps maintain the delicate balance of our interconnected ecosystem which includes both human and wildlife. It is in our best interest to support and respect our wild neighbors. LSWR is endlessly grateful for the many amazing volunteers who give the gift of freedom and a second chance to the wildlife.
