Bright Eyes Dog Rescue (BEDR) was established in 2010 and is a Non-Profit and registered charity based in Regina. They rescue stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs from communities throughout the province and are a foster-based organization, relying on volunteers, fosters and donations from the community.

Along with rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Dogs, BEDR also offers a spay/neuter-return program to remote communities who may not have access to veterinary care. They also provide ongoing support for the dogs even after adoption, post educational information and tips, host medical pop-up clinics, and strive to help with the over population of pets. They have found over 3,450 Dogs new homes and travelled over 200,000kms since they began in 2010.
If you would like to volunteer with Bright Eyes Dog Rescue you can do so by:
- Fostering
- Fundraising – bake sales, raffles, selling drink tickets at weddings, auctions and more! Work with BEDR to host your own fundraiser, or be an extra pair of hands for one of their events
- Events – running info booths, set up/take down, selling tickets etc
- Digital Media – help with social media posts and monitoring, developing graphics, posters, videos, and website editing.
- Administration – help with data entry and record keeping
- Transportation – short trips to the vet, long trips to pick up new dogs coming into care, or picking up supplies that are donated
- Building Maintenance – BEDR HQ is a the main hub for BEDR, it houses their supplies and is an emergency safe space for dogs. Their building requires maintenance and cleaning on a regular basis.
- Adoptions Assistance – prepare posts, collect bios, and help get those pups into their forever homes
BEDR is always looking for volunteers to help foster animals as there is no short supply in animals in need. To become a Foster you need to be at least 18 years old and located within a reasonable distance of Regina. This allows for fosters to use partner veterinary clinics, attend adoption events and meet with potential adopters. You can apply to become a Foster on their website, once your application has been approved you will receive a home check to make sure your space is suitable for a foster dog. Once the home check is complete you can sign up to take your first dog!
Bright Eyes Dog Rescue relies on donations to help rescue and care for animals in need. They are ALWAYS in need of:

- Pee Pads
- Toys
- Wire crates & playpens
- Food, treats, and bowls
- Dog beds
- Leashes, collars & harnesses
